Appointments

All the staff here work very hard to ensure that our patients can readily access appointments at the appropriate time with an appropriate clinician.

There are some important steps you can take to help us meet this aim:

Every day we lose many appointment slots to 'non-attendance'...please do remember to attend for yours...if for whatever reason you cannot make, or no longer require, your appointment then please ring us to cancel it so it may be offered to another patient in need.

When you ring to make your appointment it is very helpful if you can tell our administration team the nature of your visit. This allows them to ensure that you are seen by the most appropriate clinician to help you; and can often result in a more timely appointment. Many of our clinicians have different areas of special interest and expertise. And please remember that ALL our staff work to the same principles of patient confidentiality.

Each appointment slot is for one patient and ideally for one problem. If you feel you may need more time please make us aware so that we can accommodate this where possible. If you have a list of problems then please feel free to discuss this with the clinician so that you can agree a priority order in how to deal with these at the start of your appointment. It may be necessary to schedule further appointments to deal with those problems that are less urgent.

Please feel free to express a preferred practitioner when making your appointment. However, do bear in mind that this may lead to a longer wait for that appointment.

Please note patients late for their appointments may not be seen and will need to make another appointment, or they may need to wait in surgery until a slot is available.

The clinicians do try to run to time but the nature of the work means that occasionally we will be delayed. We will try to keep you informed if this happens. Please do try to be patient with us.

Appointments system

Routine appointments:

Appointments are bookable on the day, appointment line open from 8am-10am on a first come, first served basis.

Almost half of all appointments are bookable up to two weeks in advance;

We appreciate that illness can be unpredictable and if you feel that your problem is an emergency and you need to be seen on the same day then please ring and discuss this with our administration team who will do their best to assist you. This may mean you receive a call back from a clinician to discuss the problem further or you may be offered an 'Emergency Appointment' that day.

PLEASE do bear in mind that we can only offer a limited number of 'Emergency Appointments'  and that these are only for a serious, urgent medical need.

Thank you for your understanding, we look forward to assisting you.
